Save Money for Traveling

Travelling isn’t always expensive, in fact you can do it on a shoestring budget, but you have to plan and it really helps to save up before you go, so you always have a reserve up your sleeve.

Saving up before you head off can make or break your trip

Some of you will have already been doing this and don’t need our advice. Others might be starting out and wondering how to do it. We have a couple secrets to share.

We use an awesome online bank called Revolut . It helps us save in 3 ways. We saves us loads on fees as they don’t charge any fees for using the card in foreign countries. The exchange rates are way better than the banks offer (this is true for TransferWise as well) and they have these things called Vaults, where they round up every transaction you make and put the extra cents into a separate account for you. You can’t imagine how fast this adds up.

We have found this to be the easiest way to save for travel and also while you are travelling.

Another great account we keep is with TransferWise. This account is also global, gives you borderless bank accounts in 5 different currencies and again saves you a small fortune in transfer rates, but it doesn’t have the wonderful vaults to Rond up and save with. We still use this account all the time.

The last one we use is Curve. This incredibly useful card allows you to ‘load up’ all your other cards onto it and use them with no fees, even the ones that would normally charge fees when you use them in foreign countries. again you don’t get lumbered with bad exchanges rates that the banks hit you up with, and there are other benefits.

Click through any of the links above to see all the benefits of each one. We personally use them all.
